Description

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream butter and sugar: In a large bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add wet ingredients: Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and beat until combined.
  5. Combine dry and wet ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with buttermilk, mixing until smooth.
  6. Tint batter: Divide the batter into two bowls and tint one with red food coloring and the other with blue.
  7. Bake: Drop rounded tablespoons of batter onto the prepared sheets, bake for 10–12 minutes, then let them cool.
