For the pastry:
- 1 package (2 sheets) refrigerated pie crusts or homemade pastry dough
For the filling:
- 1/2 cup jam, preserves, or fruit compote (any flavor)
For the egg wash:
- 1 egg (beaten)
For the glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1–2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Prepare the pastry: Roll out the pie crusts and cut into 3×4-inch rectangles. Place half the rectangles on the baking sheet.
- Add the filling: Add jam in the center of each rectangle. Top with remaining dough rectangles and press the edges to seal.
- Bake: Brush with egg wash, prick with a fork, and bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
- Make the glaze: Whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Spread over cooled pop-tarts and add sprinkles.
- Serve: Let the glaze set before serving.
