Ingredients
Scale
Carrots
- 1 lb (450g) carrots, peeled and sliced
Glaze
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
Garnish
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Melt the butter: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat to create a flavorful base for cooking the carrots.
- Cook the carrots: Add the peeled and sliced carrots to the skillet and cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they become tender but still have a slight bite.
- Add the glaze ingredients: Stir in the brown sugar, salt, black pepper, and optional cinnamon into the skillet with the carrots to coat them evenly.
- Caramelize the carrots: Continue cooking the mixture, stirring occasionally, for about 5 more minutes until the carrots are nicely caramelized and the glaze is thickened.
- Garnish and serve: Remove the skillet from heat, garnish the glazed carrots with freshly chopped parsley, and serve warm as a delicious side dish.
Notes
- For an extra depth of flavor, try adding a pinch of nutmeg or ginger along with the cinnamon.
- Adjust the amount of brown sugar to taste if you prefer a sweeter or less sweet glaze.
- This dish pairs well with roasted meats, poultry, or as part of a vegetarian meal.
- Ensure not to overcook the carrots to maintain a pleasant tender-crisp texture.
