Ingredients
Scale
Cheese Mixture
- 4 oz Cream Cheese, softened
- 4 tbsp Crumbled Blue Cheese
- ½ tsp Paprika
- 1 tsp Ground Black Pepper
- ¼ tsp Cayenne Pepper (Optional)
Chicken Mixture
- 2 cups Cooked Chicken Breasts, shredded
- ½ cup Franks Hot Sauce
- ½ cup Homemade Ranch Dressing or your favorite store-bought brand
- 2 tsp Minced Garlic
Sandwich Assembly
- 4 tbsp Butter
- 8 slices Sandwich Bread
- 4-8 slices Muenster Cheese
Instructions
- Prepare Cheese Mixture: In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, crumbled blue cheese, paprika, black pepper, and optional cayenne pepper. Mix well and set aside to allow the flavors to meld.
- Mix Chicken: In another medium bowl, mix the shredded cooked chicken with Franks hot sauce, ranch dressing, and minced garlic until the chicken is well coated in the buffalo sauce mixture.
- Assemble Sandwiches: Butter one side of each slice of sandwich bread. On the unbuttered side of four slices, spread an even layer of the cheese mixture. Top this with the buffalo chicken mixture, then layer with slices of Muenster cheese. Close the sandwiches with the remaining buttered bread slices, butter side facing out.
- Cook Sandwiches: Heat a skillet over low heat. Place the assembled sandwiches in the skillet and grill slowly until the bread is golden brown and crispy and the cheese inside has melted, flipping carefully to cook both sides evenly. This usually takes about 3-5 minutes per side.
- Serve: Remove the grilled sandwiches from the skillet and serve hot. Enhance the experience by offering extra buffalo sauce, ranch dressing, or blue cheese dressing on the side for dipping.
Notes
- For extra spice, increase the amount of cayenne pepper in the cheese mixture or add more hot sauce to the chicken.
- Use day-old bread for a sturdier sandwich that grills up crispier without becoming soggy.
- If preferred, substitute Muenster with mozzarella or cheddar cheese for a different flavor profile.
- To save time, chicken can be pre-cooked or leftover rotisserie chicken can be used.
- Make sure to grill slowly on low heat to prevent burning the bread before the cheese melts.
