Description

Indulge in the luxurious flavors of butter-poached lobster tails with this elegant and easy-to-follow recipe. Perfect for a special occasion or a romantic dinner at home.

Ingredients

Scale

Lobster Tails:

  • 2 lobster tails (6 to 8 ounces each)

Butter Poaching:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Garnish:

  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cut and Prep Lobster Tails: Using kitchen shears, carefully cut down the top shell of each lobster tail to expose the meat. Gently loosen the meat from the shell without detaching it completely, then lift the meat above the shell and rest it on top for even cooking.
  2. Prepare Butter for Poaching: In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the smashed garlic cloves, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Maintain the butter temperature at a low simmer (about 180°F or 82°C), ensuring it does not boil.
  3. Poach Lobster Tails: Add the lobster tails to the butter, spooning the butter over the meat continuously. Poach for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the lobster meat is opaque and cooked through. Remove lobster tails and discard the garlic.
  4. Serve: Serve the lobster tails drizzled with the remaining butter from the pan and garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Use a thermometer to keep the butter at a gentle poaching temperature. This method results in tender, flavorful lobster perfect for special occasions.
