Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Caramelize the onions: In a skillet, melt butter with olive oil. Add onions, salt, and sugar. Cook for 25–30 minutes until golden brown. Let cool.
- Prepare the pastry: Roll out puff pastry, cut into rectangles, and place on a baking sheet. Score a border and fill with caramelized onions, cheese, and thyme.
- Bake: Brush edges with egg wash and bake for 18–22 minutes until golden and puffed.
- Finish: Season with black pepper and serve warm.
