Batter:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • Optional: pinch of cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the topping: Melt 1/4 cup butter in a 9-inch round cake pan. Sprinkle brown sugar over the butter and arrange banana slices on top.
  3. Prepare the batter: Whisk dry ingredients in a bowl. In a separate bowl, cream butter and sugar, then add eggs and vanilla. Mix in sour cream and dry ingredients alternately with milk.
