Description

This Chai White Hot Chocolate is a cozy and flavorful twist on traditional hot chocolate, combining the warm spices of chai tea with creamy white chocolate. It’s a perfect drink for chilly days, offering a rich, comforting beverage with aromatic notes of cinnamon, cardamom, and vanilla.

Ingredients

Scale

Liquid Base

  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1/2 cup water

Flavorings

  • 1 chai tea bag
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Chocolate

  • 1/4 cup white chocolate chips or chopped white chocolate

Toppings (optional)

  • Whipped cream
  • Ground cinnamon or nutmeg for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat milk and water: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the milk and water. Heat the mixture until it is steaming, being careful not to let it boil to preserve the flavor and prevent scalding.
  2. Steep chai tea: Remove the saucepan from heat and immerse the chai tea bag in the hot milk-water mixture. Let it steep for 4 to 5 minutes, depending on how strong and spicy you prefer the chai flavor to be.
  3. Melt white chocolate: Take out the tea bag and place the pan back on low heat. Add the white chocolate chips or chopped white chocolate to the warm liquid. Stir continuously until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  4. Add vanilla extract: Stir in the vanilla extract to enhance the sweetness and add depth to the drink’s flavor profile.
  5. Serve and garnish: Pour the chai white hot chocolate into a mug. Top with whipped cream if using, and sprinkle lightly with ground cinnamon or nutmeg for a fragrant finish.

Notes

  • You can use any milk of your choice, including almond, oat, or soy milk to make this drink dairy-free.
  • If you prefer a stronger chai flavor, steep the tea bag for up to 7 minutes but be careful not to make it too bitter.
  • Adjust the amount of white chocolate to your taste for sweetness intensity.
  • For a vegan version, choose non-dairy milk and a white chocolate alternative that is dairy-free.
  • This recipe can be doubled or tripled if making multiple servings.
