Description

These Cheesy Jalapeno Popper Puff Pastry Straws are a delightful appetizer that packs a punch. Filled with a creamy, spicy mixture of jalapeños, cheddar cheese, and bacon, these crispy pastry twists are perfect for parties or snacking.

Ingredients

Scale

Puff Pastry:

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed

Cheese Filling:

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup cooked and crumbled bacon
  • 1–2 jalapeños, finely chopped (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika
  • pinch of salt and pepper
  • optional: extra shredded cheese or chopped jalapeños for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Mix Filling: In a bowl, combine cream cheese, cheddar cheese, bacon, jalapeños, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Prepare Pastry: Roll out puff pastry, spread filling, fold, and cut into strips. Twist each strip and place on the baking sheet.
  4. Egg Wash: Brush each twist with beaten egg and sprinkle with extra cheese or jalapeños.
  5. Bake: Bake for 15–18 minutes until golden brown and puffed. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • You can make these ahead of time and reheat them in the oven for a few minutes to regain crispiness.
  • For extra heat, leave some jalapeño seeds in or add a pinch of cayenne to the filling.
