Scale
Main Ingredients
- 6 large eggs
- 3 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon white vinegar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
For Garnish
- Paprika for garnish
- Optional toppings: chives, pickled jalapeños, crispy bacon
Instructions
- Boil the Eggs: Place the 6 large eggs in a saucepan and cover with cold water, about 1 inch above the eggs. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Rest & Cool: Once the water reaches a boil, cover the saucepan, remove it from heat, and let the eggs sit for 12 minutes. Then, transfer the eggs to an ice bath and chill for at least 5 minutes to stop the cooking process and cool them down.
- Peel & Slice: Peel the eggs under running water to help remove the shells easily. Slice each egg in half lengthwise, carefully removing the yolks and placing them in a bowl.
- Make the Filling: Mash the yolks until smooth with a fork. Add mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, white vinegar, salt, and black pepper. Mix everything until the filling is creamy and well combined.
- Fill the Egg Whites: Spoon or use a piping bag to fill the hollowed egg white halves with the yolk mixture, creating a neat and attractive presentation.
- Garnish & Serve: Sprinkle the deviled eggs with paprika for color and optionally add toppings such as chopped chives, pickled jalapeños, or crispy bacon bits. Refrigerate for 20 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld and for a refreshing chilled taste.
Notes
- Using an ice bath after boiling prevents overcooking and makes peeling easier.
- For a smoother filling, consider passing the yolks through a fine sieve before mixing.
- Customize toppings to finish with your favorite flavors or seasonal ingredients.
- Deviled eggs can be prepared a day in advance and stored covered in the refrigerator.
