Description

This creamy Asiago chicken recipe features tender, pan-seared chicken breasts smothered in a rich garlic and Asiago cheese sauce. Perfectly seasoned with Italian herbs and served with a luscious cream-based sauce, this dish is both comforting and elegant, making it ideal for weeknight dinners or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup Asiago cheese, grated

Garnish

  • 1 tablespoon freshly chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Prepare and season chicken: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the chicken breasts on both sides with garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  2. Cook chicken: Place the chicken breasts in the hot skillet and cook for 6-7 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Make the sauce base: In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until aromatic but not browned.
  4. Add liquids and thicken sauce: Pour in the heavy cream and chicken broth, stirring well to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer and let it cook for 3-4 minutes to allow the sauce to thicken slightly.
  5. Melt the cheese: Stir in the grated Asiago cheese and cook until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce becomes smooth and creamy.
  6. Combine chicken and sauce: Return the cooked chicken breasts to the skillet, spoon some sauce over the chicken, and let simmer for 2-3 minutes to reheat and meld flavors.
  7. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the chicken and sauce. Serve immediately with your choice of pasta, rice, or vegetables.

Notes

  • Ensure the chicken is cooked through by checking that the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • For a thicker sauce, simmer the cream and broth mixture longer before adding the cheese.
  • Asiago cheese can be substituted with Parmesan if unavailable.
  • Serve with pasta, rice, or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
