Description

Crispy Air-Fryer Smashed Potatoes are a delicious and easy side dish made by boiling baby potatoes until tender, smashing them gently, and then air frying them to golden perfection. Instructions

  1. Wash Potatoes: Thoroughly rinse the baby potatoes under cold running water to remove any dirt or debris.
  2. Boil Potatoes: Place the potatoes in a large pot of salted water and bring to a boil. Cook until the potatoes are fork-tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain the potatoes and allow them to cool slightly.
  3. Smash Potatoes: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Gently place each potato on the sheet and flatten it using a potato masher or the bottom of a glass, taking care not to break them apart completely.
  4. Season Potatoes: Drizzle the smashed potatoes with extra virgin olive oil. Sprinkle garlic powder, sea salt, and freshly cracked black pepper evenly over them. Toss gently to ensure all potatoes are well coated with the seasoning and oil.
  5. Preheat Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and allow it to preheat.
  6. Air Fry Potatoes: Arrange the seasoned smashed potatoes in a single layer inside the air fryer basket to ensure even cooking. Cook for 12-15 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy on the edges.
  7. Serve: Remove the crispy smashed potatoes from the air fryer and garnish with fresh herbs of your choice if desired. Serve hot as a delightful side dish.

Notes

  • You can use any small baby potatoes, such as Yukon gold or red potatoes.
  • If you don’t have an air fryer, you can bake the smashed potatoes in a preheated oven at 425°F for 20-25 minutes.
