Turkey:

  • 1 whole turkey (1214 pounds)

Herbed Butter:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh sage

Stuffing:

  • 1 lemon (halved)
  • 1 onion (quartered)
  • 1 head of garlic (halved)
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken or turkey broth

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 325°F.
  2. Prepare Turkey: Remove giblets and pat turkey dry. Mix softened butter with seasonings. Rub butter under the skin and all over the turkey. Fill cavity with lemon, onion, and garlic.
  3. Roast: Place turkey on a rack in a roasting pan, pour broth into the pan, and tent with foil. Roast for 3 to 3½ hours, basting occasionally.
  4. Rest: Remove foil during the last 45 minutes to brown the skin. Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
