Turkey:
- 1 whole turkey (12–14 pounds)
Herbed Butter:
- ½ cup unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh sage
Stuffing:
- 1 lemon (halved)
- 1 onion (quartered)
- 1 head of garlic (halved)
- 2 cups low-sodium chicken or turkey broth
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 325°F.
- Prepare Turkey: Remove giblets and pat turkey dry. Mix softened butter with seasonings. Rub butter under the skin and all over the turkey. Fill cavity with lemon, onion, and garlic.
- Roast: Place turkey on a rack in a roasting pan, pour broth into the pan, and tent with foil. Roast for 3 to 3½ hours, basting occasionally.
- Rest: Remove foil during the last 45 minutes to brown the skin. Let the turkey rest for 20 minutes before carving.
