Description
A quick and creamy sausage dip that’s perfect for parties or snack time, combining flavorful ground sausage, cream cheese, cheddar, and spicy Rotel tomatoes baked to bubbly perfection.
Ingredients
Scale
Meat
- 1 lb ground breakfast sausage (or your preferred sausage)
Dairy
- 8 oz cream cheese
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
Canned Goods & Spices
- 1 can (10 oz) Rotel (diced tomatoes with green chilies)
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the dip.
- Cook the Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage until fully browned and crumbled. Be sure to drain any excess fat to keep the dip from becoming greasy.
- Mix the Dip: In a large bowl, combine the cooked sausage with cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, the entire can of Rotel including the juices, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Bake: Transfer this mixture into a small baking dish, spreading it out evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until the dip is bubbly and the top has a golden hue.
- Serve: Allow the dip to cool slightly before serving warm. It pairs wonderfully with tortilla chips, toasted bread, or crackers for dipping.
Notes
- For a spicier dip, use hot Rotel instead of mild.
- You can substitute the sausage with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- Serve immediately for best texture; leftovers can be warmed up in the oven or microwave.
- Adding chopped jalapeños can give extra heat and flavor.
