Description

These garlic breadsticks are a quick and delicious appetizer or snack, made with a simple Greek yogurt dough and topped with garlic butter, cheese, and Italian seasoning. Baked to golden perfection, they are perfect for serving warm alongside your favorite dips or meals.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 1 batch Greek yogurt dough (see notes for alternatives)

Toppings & Coating

  • 1/4 cup butter (or olive oil), melted
  • 3 tablespoons garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a large baking tray with parchment paper and set it aside to prepare for baking.
  2. Prepare the Dough: Combine the Greek yogurt with flour (as per your dough recipe) until it forms a smooth dough. Shape the dough into a rough rectangular shape and transfer it onto the prepared baking tray.
  3. Brush the Dough: Using a pastry brush, lightly coat the top of the dough with melted butter or olive oil, ensuring the entire surface is covered for richness and to help toppings adhere.
  4. Prepare the Garlic Mixture: In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter or olive oil with minced garlic. Brush this garlic butter mixture generously over the dough surface, leaving a half-inch border around the edges to prevent burning.
  5. Add Toppings: Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the garlic-coated dough, then top with Italian seasoning to infuse herby flavor.
  6. Bake the Breadsticks: Place the baking tray in the preheated oven and bake for 15-17 minutes until the edges are golden brown and the cheese is fully melted and bubbly.
  7. Slice and Serve: Remove from the oven, optionally sprinkle with more Italian seasoning for extra flavor. Use a pizza cutter to slice the baked dough into breadsticks. Serve warm with your favorite sauce or dip.

Notes

  • You can substitute Greek yogurt dough with any favorite bread or pizza dough.
  • Butter can be swapped with olive oil for a vegan alternative.
  • Add chopped fresh parsley or grated Parmesan on top for extra flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in the oven for best texture.
