Ingredients
Scale
Sausage and Sauce
- 4 Italian sausages, sliced
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Pasta
- 12 ounces pasta (fettuccine or penne)
Instructions
- Sauté the Sausages: Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the sliced Italian sausages. Cook them for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are nicely browned and cooked through.
- Add Garlic and Butter: Add the minced garlic and butter to the skillet with the sausages. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes until the garlic becomes fragrant and the butter is melted and bubbling.
- Cook the Pasta: Meanwhile, cook the pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water according to the package instructions until al dente. Before draining, reserve about ½ cup of the pasta cooking water to help adjust the sauce consistency later.
- Make the Creamy Sauce: Pour the heavy cream into the skillet with the sausages and garlic. Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese and cook over medium heat, stirring frequently, until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Toss Pasta in Sauce: Add the drained pasta to the skillet and gently toss to coat it evenly with the creamy sauce. Add reserved pasta water a little at a time as needed to loosen the sauce and achieve your desired texture.
- Finish and Serve: Stir in the chopped fresh parsley along with salt and black pepper to taste. Give everything one last mix and serve the dish hot for a comforting and flavorful meal.
Notes
- Reserve pasta water as it contains starch to help thicken and bind the sauce.
- You can substitute Italian sausages with spicy or sweet sausage according to taste.
- Parmesan cheese can be freshly grated for the best flavor and melt.
- Adjust seasoning at the end to suit your preference.
- For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream, but the sauce won’t be as rich.
