Description

These Greek-inspired meatballs are a flavorful and satisfying dish that brings the taste of the Mediterranean to your table. Made with a blend of ground lamb or beef, fresh herbs, and warm spices, these meatballs are perfect for a main course or as part of a mezze spread.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients:

  • 1 pound ground lamb or beef (or a mix)
  • 1/3 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup red onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh mint (chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)

Instructions

  1. Mix the Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the ground meat, breadcrumbs, red onion, garlic, parsley, mint, oregano, cumin, salt, pepper, and egg. Mix gently until just combined—do not overmix.
  2. Shape the Meatballs: Shape into 1 1/2-inch meatballs using your hands or a small scoop.
  3. Cook the Meatballs: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs in a single layer and cook for 8–10 minutes, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and cooked through.
  4. Serve: Transfer to a paper towel–lined plate to drain. Serve warm with tzatziki, pita, and a Greek salad.

Notes

  • These meatballs can also be baked at 400°F (200°C) for 18–20 minutes for a lighter option.
  • They freeze well, making them great for meal prep.
  • Try serving over rice or orzo with lemon and herbs.
