Description

This fresh and zesty guacamole recipe combines ripe avocados with vibrant ingredients like red onion, jalapeño peppers, tomato, and cilantro, all enhanced by lime juice and aromatic spices. Ready in just 10 minutes, it’s a perfect creamy and flavorful dip or topping for tacos and tortilla chips.

Ingredients

Scale

Guacamole Ingredients

  • 3 ripe avocados, peeled and pitted
  • 1 small red onion, finely diced
  • 1-2 jalapeño peppers, seeds removed and finely chopped
  • 1 medium tomato, diced
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 lime, juiced
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp salt, to taste
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Mash the Avocados: In a medium bowl, mash the avocados with a fork or potato masher until you reach your desired consistency, whether smooth or chunky.
  2. Add Vegetables and Herbs: Incorporate the finely diced red onion, chopped jalapeños, diced tomato, and chopped cilantro into the mashed avocados.
  3. Season the Mixture: Stir in the lime juice, garlic powder, cumin (if using), salt, and black pepper. Mix everything together until well combined.
  4. Taste and Adjust: Taste the guacamole and adjust the seasoning by adding more lime juice, salt, or pepper as needed to suit your preference.
  5. Serve: Serve the guacamole immediately with tortilla chips, tacos, or as a fresh topping for your favorite Mexican dishes.

Notes

  • For a spicier guacamole, keep some or all of the jalapeño seeds.
  • Use fresh lime juice for the best flavor and to prevent browning.
  • Customize the texture by mashing the avocados less for chunkier guacamole or more for a smoother dip.
  • If not serving immediately, cover with plastic wrap pressed directly onto the surface to prevent oxidation and browning.
  • Cumin is optional but adds a nice smoky depth to the guacamole.
