Ingredients
Scale
Meat
- 200g chorizo sausage
Vegetables
- 1/2 cup red peppers, sliced
- 1/2 cup red onion, thinly sliced
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
Other
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 1 1/2 cups cheese (Mozzarella or a blend of mozzarella and cheddar)
- 1 pizza base (store-bought, prebaked, or homemade, about 10-12 inches)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven during preheating to get it nice and hot for baking.
- Prepare the dough: Roll out your pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your preferred thickness. Transfer the rolled dough to a baking sheet or preheated pizza stone. If you are using pre-baked dough, this step can be skipped.
- Precook the chorizo: Heat a skillet over medium heat, add the chorizo sausage, and cook until it releases its flavorful oils and is slightly crisp. Drain any excess grease to avoid a greasy pizza.
- Apply the tomato sauce: Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the surface of the pizza dough, leaving about a 1-inch border around the edge for the crust.
- Add the toppings: Evenly sprinkle the cooked chorizo, sliced red peppers, and red onions over the sauce. Top it with the mozzarella or cheese blend, ensuring even coverage.
- Bake the pizza: Place the pizza in the preheated oven on the baking sheet or pizza stone. Bake for 10-15 minutes until the crust turns golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Rotate the pizza halfway through baking for even cooking.
- Garnish and serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and immediately sprinkle fresh chopped cilantro over the top. Slice and serve hot for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- You can customize the type of cheese according to your preference; a blend of mozzarella and cheddar gives a nice balance of melt and flavor.
- If you do not have a pizza stone, a baking sheet will work fine—just be sure to preheat the oven properly.
- Adjust the quantity of chorizo and vegetables based on your taste and number of servings.
- For extra crispiness, brush the crust edge lightly with olive oil before baking.
