Description

Loaded Cheese Fries are a delicious American appetizer featuring crispy baked French fries smothered in melted cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, topped with crispy crumbled bacon, fresh green onions, and a drizzle of sour cream. Perfect for parties or as a savory side dish.

Ingredients

Scale

Fries and Cheese

  • 1 bag (28 oz) frozen French fries
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Toppings

  • 6 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 1/4 cup sliced green onions
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare and Bake Fries: Preheat the oven according to the French fries package directions. Spread the frozen fries evenly on a baking sheet and bake for 25–30 minutes until crispy and golden brown.
  2. Cook Bacon: While the fries are baking, cook the bacon slices in a skillet over medium heat until crispy. Drain on paper towels, then crumble into small pieces and set aside.
  3. Assemble Loaded Fries: Once the fries are cooked, transfer them to a large oven-safe dish or sheet pan. Evenly sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses over the fries, followed by the crumbled bacon on top.
  4. Melt Cheese: Return the fries to the oven and bake for an additional 5–7 minutes until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
  5. Add Fresh Toppings and Serve: Remove the loaded fries from the oven. Top with sliced green onions, a drizzle of sour cream, and sprinkle chopped fresh parsley if using. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add jalapeño slices, diced tomatoes, or ranch dressing on top.
  • Swap regular fries for waffle fries or sweet potato fries for a twist.
  • Serve with extra sour cream or your favorite dipping sauce on the side for additional indulgence.
