Scale
Salmon Patties
- 1 (14.75-ounce) can salmon (drained, bones and skin removed)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/4 cup finely chopped parsley
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
For Cooking
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (for frying)
- Lemon wedges for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained salmon, breadcrumbs, finely chopped onion, parsley, egg, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined to maintain a good texture without overworking the mixture.
- Form patties: Shape the mixture into 6 equal-sized patties, pressing firmly to hold their shape but not too dense.
- Heat the oil: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat to ensure even cooking and a crispy exterior.
- Cook the patties: Add the salmon patties carefully to the hot skillet. Cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side, or until they are golden brown and heated through.
- Remove and drain: Once cooked, transfer the patties to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb any excess oil.
- Serve: Serve the salmon patties warm with fresh lemon wedges to add a zesty brightness.
Notes
- For a crispier texture, chill the patties for 15–20 minutes before frying.
- These salmon patties can also be cooked in an air fryer at 375°F (190°C) for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through for even browning.
