Description

Indulge in the tantalizing flavors of this Shrimp Orzo with Lemon Garlic Sauce. Succulent shrimp, tender orzo pasta, and a zesty sauce come together in a dish that’s perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Shrimp:

  • 1 pound large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter

For the Orzo:

  • 1 1/2 cups orzo pasta
  • Salt for boiling water

For the Lemon Garlic Sauce:

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (divided)
  • 4 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine (or additional broth)
  • 1 lemon (zested and juiced)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped)

Instructions

  1. Cook Orzo: Cook orzo in a large pot of salted boiling water until al dente, then drain and set aside.
  2. Cook Shrimp: In a large skillet, heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon butter. Season shrimp with salt and pepper, then cook until pink and opaque. Transfer shrimp to a plate.
  3. Make Sauce: Melt remaining butter in the skillet, add garlic and red pepper flakes, then deglaze with white wine and broth. Stir in lemon juice, zest, and Parmesan cheese until sauce thickens.
  4. Combine: Add cooked orzo to the sauce and toss to coat. Return shrimp to the pan, sprinkle with parsley, and serve.

Notes

  • For extra creaminess, stir in a splash of heavy cream before adding the orzo.
  • This dish pairs beautifully with a crisp green salad.
