Description

Steak Garlic Bread is a savory, cheesy delight featuring tender sliced flank steak atop a crispy, garlic butter spread bread base, loaded with mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Perfect as a hearty appetizer, game-day snack, or an easy main course, this dish combines smoky, garlicky flavors with gooey melted cheese and a satisfying steak topping.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread and Butter

  • 1 loaf French bread or Italian bread (halved lengthwise)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley (chopped)

Steak and Seasoning

  • 1 pound flank steak or ribeye (thinly sliced)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)

Cheese and Garnish

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Red pepper flakes for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Sear the Steak: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season the thinly sliced steak with salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika if using. Sear the steak slices in batches for 1 to 2 minutes per side until just cooked through. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Make Garlic Butter: In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, garlic powder, minced garlic, and chopped fresh parsley. Mix thoroughly to create a flavorful garlic butter spread.
  4. Assemble the Bread: Spread the garlic butter mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread halves. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella cheese and all of the Parmesan cheese over the buttered bread.
  5. Add the Steak and Cheese: Layer the cooked steak slices evenly atop the cheese, then sprinkle the remaining mozzarella cheese over the steak for a cheesy topping.
  6. Bake: Place the assembled bread halves on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and starting to turn golden.
  7. Optional Broil: For an extra crispy and browned cheese topping, broil the bread for an additional 1 to 2 minutes, watching carefully to avoid burning.
  8. Finish and Serve: Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool slightly. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes if desired for a touch of heat. Slice into servings and serve warm.

Notes

  • Great as a hearty appetizer, game-day snack, or even a satisfying dinner paired with a fresh side salad.
  • Leftover steak works perfectly, or try swapping steak with grilled chicken or sautéed mushrooms for a different flavor variation.
  • Use fresh herbs like basil or oregano instead of parsley for a different twist.
  • If you prefer a milder flavor, omit the smoked paprika and red pepper flakes.
  • For an extra indulgent version, add a drizzle of balsamic glaze after baking.
