Doughnuts:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda

- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- ¾ cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¾ cup finely chopped fresh strawberries
For the glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tablespoons strawberry puree
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a standard doughnut pan.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, nutmeg, granulated sugar, and brown sugar.
- Combine wet ingredients: In another bowl, whisk together the melted butter, egg, buttermilk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Combine wet and dry: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Add strawberries: Gently fold in the chopped strawberries.
- Bake: Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared doughnut pan and bake for 10-12 minutes until done.
- Make glaze: Whisk together powdered sugar, strawberry puree, and vanilla for the glaze.
- Glaze doughnuts: Dip the cooled doughnuts into the glaze and allow excess to drip off.
- Serve: Let the glaze set before serving.
Notes
- Use freeze-dried strawberries for the glaze if fresh ones are too watery.
- Best eaten the day they’re made but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
