Description

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, cold and cut into small cubes
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 12 tablespoons ice water (as needed)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a food processor, combine the flour, powdered sugar, and salt. Add the cold butter cubes and pulse until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Blend the Ingredients: Add the egg yolk and pulse until incorporated. Add ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, and pulse until the dough just begins to come together.
  3. Chill the Dough: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface, press into a disc, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  4. Roll and Bake: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the dough to fit a 9-inch tart pan, press it evenly, trim excess dough, prick the bottom with a fork, line with parchment paper and weights. Bake, cool, and fill.
