Description

This Teriyaki Ground Beef & Broccoli Bowl is a delicious and easy-to-make Asian-inspired dish that is perfect for a quick weeknight dinner. Tender ground beef and crisp broccoli are coated in a flavorful homemade teriyaki sauce and served over steamed rice.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Teriyaki Beef:

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil (divided)
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

For the Bowl:

  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 3 cups cooked white or brown rice
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef: In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon sesame oil over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 6 to 8 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
  2. Sauté Aromatics: Push beef to one side of the skillet and add remaining sesame oil, garlic, and ginger, cooking for 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Add Broccoli: Stir in broccoli florets and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp.
  4. Make the Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk soy sauce, brown sugar, rice vinegar, water, and cornstarch until smooth. Pour sauce into skillet and stir everything together, cooking for 2 to 3 minutes until sauce thickens and coats the beef and broccoli.
  5. Serve: Serve over bowls of warm rice, topped with green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • For extra heat, add a teaspoon of sriracha or red pepper flakes to the sauce.
  • This recipe works well with ground turkey or chicken as a lighter option.
