Description

These Two Ingredient Dough Pretzel Bites offer a quick and easy homemade snack using just self-rising flour and Greek yogurt. Soft on the inside with a golden crust, they’re perfect for dipping or enjoying on their own.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough Ingredients

  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt (full fat or 2%)

Boiling Solution

  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • 3 cups water

Topping and Finishing

  • 1 large egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • Coarse salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oven and Dough: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour and Greek yogurt until a dough forms. Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead gently for 1–2 minutes until smooth.
  2. Shape the Pretzel Bites: Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope approximately 12 inches long. Cut each rope into 1-inch pieces to create bite-sized pretzels.
  3. Boil with Baking Soda: In a saucepan, bring 3 cups of water and 1/4 cup baking soda to a gentle boil. Working in small batches, add the pretzel bites to the boiling water and cook for 20–30 seconds. Remove them with a slotted spoon and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Egg Wash and Salt: Brush each pretzel bite with the beaten egg wash and sprinkle generously with coarse salt for flavor and a nice crust.
  5. Bake to Perfection: Bake the pretzel bites in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes or until they turn golden brown. Allow them to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Serve pretzel bites with cheese sauce, mustard, or any favorite dips for added flavor.
  • For a sweet twist, omit the coarse salt and instead brush warm pretzel bites with melted butter and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar after baking.
  • These pretzels are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
