A hearty and flavorful Ultimate Philly Cheesesteak Casserole combining ground beef, bell peppers, onions, and provolone cheese baked to perfection, making a comforting and easy-to-make meal for the whole family.
Ingredients
Scale
Meat and Vegetables
- 1½ lb ground beef
- 2 bell peppers, chopped
- ½ onion, chopped
- 2 tsp minced garlic
- 1 tsp seasoned salt
Cheese
- 8 slices provolone cheese
Egg Mixture
- 4 large eggs
- ¼ cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking.
- Cook the beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until no longer pink, breaking it up as it cooks for an even texture.
- Sauté vegetables: Add the chopped bell peppers, onions, minced garlic, and seasoned salt to the skillet. Sauté for 4–5 minutes until the vegetables are tender and fragrant.
- Assemble base layer: Transfer the cooked beef and vegetable mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
- Prepare egg mixture: In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth and well combined.
- Pour egg mixture: Evenly pour the egg mixture over the beef and vegetables in the baking dish, allowing it to soak through.
- Add cheese topping: Lay the provolone cheese slices over the top, covering the entire surface for a melty cheese layer.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the eggs are fully set and the cheese is melted and lightly browned.
Notes
- Use a non-stick spray or lightly oil the baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Feel free to substitute provolone with mozzarella or cheddar for a different cheese flavor.
- Seasoned salt can be replaced with kosher salt and black pepper if preferred.
- Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving to help it set and make slicing easier.
- Additional vegetables like mushrooms or tomatoes can be added for extra flavor and nutrition.
