Description

A hearty and flavorful Ultimate Philly Cheesesteak Casserole combining ground beef, bell peppers, onions, and provolone cheese baked to perfection, making a comforting and easy-to-make meal for the whole family.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat and Vegetables

  • lb ground beef
  • 2 bell peppers, chopped
  • ½ onion, chopped
  • 2 tsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp seasoned salt

Cheese

  • 8 slices provolone cheese

Egg Mixture

  • 4 large eggs
  • ¼ cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking.
  2. Cook the beef: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef until no longer pink, breaking it up as it cooks for an even texture.
  3. Sauté vegetables: Add the chopped bell peppers, onions, minced garlic, and seasoned salt to the skillet. Sauté for 4–5 minutes until the vegetables are tender and fragrant.
  4. Assemble base layer: Transfer the cooked beef and vegetable mixture to the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly across the bottom.
  5. Prepare egg mixture: In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth and well combined.
  6. Pour egg mixture: Evenly pour the egg mixture over the beef and vegetables in the baking dish, allowing it to soak through.
  7. Add cheese topping: Lay the provolone cheese slices over the top, covering the entire surface for a melty cheese layer.
  8. Bake: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the eggs are fully set and the cheese is melted and lightly browned.

Notes

  • Use a non-stick spray or lightly oil the baking dish to prevent sticking.
  • Feel free to substitute provolone with mozzarella or cheddar for a different cheese flavor.
  • Seasoned salt can be replaced with kosher salt and black pepper if preferred.
  • Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving to help it set and make slicing easier.
  • Additional vegetables like mushrooms or tomatoes can be added for extra flavor and nutrition.
