Description
A quick and easy recipe for crispy and golden hash browns made in a waffle maker. These savory potato waffles are perfect for a delicious breakfast or brunch, with optional toppings like cheese, sour cream, or chives to customize your flavors.
Ingredients
Scale
Hash Browns Mixture
- 3 cups frozen shredded hash browns (thawed and patted dry)
- 2 tablespoons melted butter or oil
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Additional
- Nonstick cooking spray
- Optional toppings: shredded cheese, sour cream, chopped chives
Instructions
- Preheat the waffle maker. Lightly coat the waffle maker with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Prepare the hash brown mixture. In a large bowl, combine the thawed and dried hash browns with melted butter, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly to evenly coat all the potatoes.
- Cook the hash browns. Spread a generous amount of the hash brown mixture into the preheated waffle maker, pressing down lightly to compact it. Close the lid and cook for 10–15 minutes, or until the hash browns become golden brown and crispy. Cooking times may vary depending on your waffle maker.
- Remove and repeat. Carefully remove the cooked hash browns from the waffle maker using a non-metal utensil. Repeat the process with the remaining mixture.
- Serve with toppings. Serve the crispy waffle hash browns warm, and add any optional toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, or chopped chives to enhance the flavor.
Notes
- Make sure to squeeze out excess moisture from the hash browns before cooking for maximum crispiness.
- You can mix in shredded cheese or diced onions with the hash browns prior to cooking for extra flavor.
